This guide outlines the step-by-step process for setting up Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) for an employee in Accord.

Step 1: Access the Employee Record
- Open the employee's record. Pay (SMP) for an employee in Accord.
- Navigate to the Miscellaneous tab.
- In the Payment Plans section, select SMP.
Step 2: Complete the SMP Calculation Page
- Enter the Expected Week of Confinement (EWC) by selecting the Sunday of the expected week.
- Click the Calculate button.
Once calculated, the statutory dates will automatically populate the remaining fields. The maternity start date will default to the earliest maternity start date (11 weeks before expected week of confinement).
Step 3: Override the Maternity Start Date (if applicable)
- Tick the Override MPP Start Date checkbox.
- Enter the actual maternity leave start date.
Step 4: Review and Adjust Average Weekly Earnings (AWE)
- Use the dropdown next to the date to view the AWE calculation.
To override the AWE (Should you need to):
- Tick the Override AWE checkbox.
- Enter the new AWE amount.
- Click Recalculate.
Step 5: Confirm and Update

Click OK.
If the results are correct, click Update.
Step 6: Review the SMP Weekly Payments Table
- The SMP schedule will be displayed.
- Click Update to confirm.
After clicking OK, a summary of the SMP schedule will appear on screen.
Step 7: Access the Payment Schedule

You can view the payment schedule at any time by selecting the dropdown next to the date.
- The window which opens will show you the statutory payments due for each week.
- You may click on the top left cell to select all cells, Then, use Control C to copy the data, and you can then paste this in an external excel sheet using Control V, if you wish to create a schedule.
Important Notes
- Once the SMP schedule is completed, the dates cannot be edited.
- If changes are required:
- Select the SMP button.
- Highlight the summary line.
- Click Delete.
- Repeat the process from Step 1.
