As part of your performance management and succession planning processes you may record Objectives for your employees to work towards. These can be recorded in HR and can, if required, be linked to your organisation goals and achievement of the objectives tracked.
A full list of all existing Objectives will be presented for the employee
Note: A focused list of incomplete objectives also displays on the Objectives tab in the Employee Dashboard. Incomplete is determined by either a blankcompleted date or future target date within each objective.
Click Insert New Record
Enter the Objective Raised Date, and enter an Objective Description
Company Goals will enable you to select from the preconfigured goals and link the objective to one or more of the goals
Note: For more details on Company Goals see the linked guide
Select any Development Needs that you may wish to associate with this objective
The list will present any needs identified for this employee
Job Holder Comments could be completed at this stage or could be completed by the employee when the objective has been completed as a summary
Note: There is an option within System Configuration which can be set such that the Objective Description cannot be edited once the record has been created. This will then ensure that if an employee completes the Job Holder Comments, following creation of the objective, only that field can be edited.
Set the Objective Target Date as required
Enter any Reviewer Comments
The Weighting Group enables you to group together objectives. Within that group, individual objectives can be given a Weighting Group Percentage. Each objective is given a percentage weighting, the total of these must be 100
Note: For more details on Weighting Groups and percentages see the linked guide.
Click Update
Confirmation that the record has been created will be presented along with choices of:
Edit - to edit that objective
Summary - to return to the Summary view
Add another record - to continue adding further objectives
Note: An objective can be recorded for a subset of employee records using the Bulk Change facility. For more details see the linked guide.
Note: Many of the field areas in Objectives can be configured to be visible or hidden as required ie Company Goals, Development Needs, Job Requirements, Skills. For more details on these configuration options see the related guides
Completing objectives
Go to Performance & Development > Objectives and click into the relevant item to edit
There are two fields to mark an objective complete:
Objective completed Marking an objective as completed fully closes it off. If you are using Review form objectives, enabling this slider will remove the objective from review forms, as it is no longer considered active for review discussions
Objective completed date The completed date records when the objective was actually finished. Once this date is added, the objective will no longer appear on the Employee Dashboard (unless the target date is still in the future)
