Query
"Which fields sync from HR to Active Directory?"
"What does the AD Connector update?"
"How do I change the AD Connector field mappings?"
Answer
If you use the optional AD Connector, Ciphr HR updates your Active Directory (AD) user accounts with the fields below. These are the default mappings. Your own mappings may differ, because they can be set up differently for each customer.
| AD attribute | HR field |
|---|---|
| Office (physicalDeliveryOfficeName) | Location Description |
| Street (streetAddress) | Location Address 1 and 2 |
| City or town (l) | Location Address 3 |
| State or province (st) | Location Address 4 |
| Postal code (postalCode) | Location PostCode |
| Job title (title) | Job Title |
| Department (department) | Org Unit 1 name, shown as Team, Department or similar depending on your setup |
The address fields come from the employee's location, not their home address.
The sync runs when your AD Connector workflows run, and you choose the timing, for example first thing in the morning or early evening.
Email addresses sync separately. See System configuration: AD connector email sync.
Change what syncs
To change which fields sync, or when the sync runs:
- Ask your IT team to update the mappings or the workflow schedule. They can make these changes themselves.
- If you need help, raise a ticket through the Customer Care Portal.
