Query
“SCORM course stuck on Started”
“E-learning won’t complete”
“Learner passed but status shows Started”
“Completion not recording”
“Status went back to Started”
Answer
Ciphr LMS records the status the SCORM package sends. If the package doesn’t send a final completed or passed status, or a setting on the activity overwrites it, the activity stays at or returns to Started.
How to fix it
- Check the learner finished the content. Many packages only send completion from the final screen or after completing a certain percentage of an assessment, so closing the window early or failing an assessment could leave the status at Started.
- Check required assessments. If the activity has a required pre-activity or post-activity assessment, it stays Started until all required parts are completed. See Add a pre-activity or post-activity assessment
- Check Completed Topic Behaviour. Go to Admin > Manage Training > Manage Learning Activities, edit the activity and open the E-learning Content tab. If Allow topic to overwrite previous status is selected, relaunching resets the status. Select Run in Review Mode instead, then select Save Activity
- Check the package’s tracking settings. In your authoring tool, check the package is set to report a completed or passed status. Then publish it again and upload the new version. See How to upload an e-learning activity Ciphr LMS supports SCORM and AICC.
- If it still doesn’t record, raise a ticket with the activity name, an affected learner and a trace file. See Diagnosing performance issues by providing a trace file
| Note: ELFH activities can send several statuses at random. This is a known issue, see Known Issues - Ciphr LMS. |
