Understand file size limits for uploads

Ciphr LMS enforces a standard file size limit for uploads such as videos and class materials.

• Check that your file is 500 MB or smaller before uploading to the Materials tab or as a joining instruction attachment
• If you see a "file is too large" error, your file exceeds the current upload limit

Classroom materials and Joining Instructions - File Size

If your file is too large to upload directly, use one of these methods.

1. Compress the file to reduce its size below the upload limit, then upload again
2. Split the file into smaller parts, each under 500 MB, and upload them separately
3. Host the file externally (for example, on a cloud storage service) and copy the full URL into the Joining Instructions text box

Request an upload limit increase

If you need to upload files larger than the standard limit, you can request a change.
