Introduction
The Ethnic Origin code table should be reviewed and updated so that all employee ethnic origins can be captured. This will enable you to accurately report and monitor your equality and diversity information.
| Note: For consistency and accuracy it is advised that the Ethnic Origin code table reflects the definitions that can be found on the government or Office of National Statistics websites. |
Ethnic Origin
- Go to the following area:
- Latest (left-hand) menu: Data Management > Code Tables
- Pre 2025 menu: System > System Administration > Code Tables
- From the Group choose People and then select the Ethnic Origin table
- The screen will display all the existing codes
To create an Ethnic Origin
- Click Insert New Record
- Create a description and a code for the entry. This code will not be visible as part of entering data and is only used in reporting
- Ethnic origins can optionally be grouped which may facilitate reporting. This picklist is self-generating, i.e., if another grouping option is required, enter the heading and this will then be available for selection
- Click Update
To edit an Ethnic Origin
- Go to the Ethnic Origin code table
- Click on the Ethnic Origin to be edited and then revise as required
- Click Update
To delete an Ethnic Origin
- Go to the Ethnic Origin code table
- Click on the Ethnic Origin to be deleted
- Click Delete
| Note: If an Ethnic Origin has already been used for an employee, it cannot be deleted. |
