- When a date field is used in a letter template the format of the merged result will appear according to the default setting for date formats as defined in (System) > System Configuration > System Configuration > Filter on Letters Group

To insert today's date in your document
- Current date is not a field in Ciphr, but you can use Microsoft Word functionality to add today’s date to your template.
- In your letter template go to the Insert tab, then click Date & Time and select the required format.
- Tick Update automatically, and then OK and it will insert today’s date.
If you click on the date it will highlight grey, as it is a field and will update automatically to today’s date whenever the template is opened. Right-click on it and select Edit Field… if you need to change the format.
| Note: This field should be used with documents where the final output will be in PDF, and therefore the date will no longer update once issued. |
