Introduction
Analytics can help your HR team venture beyond operational reporting to access strategic insights that make a meaningful difference to your people strategy.
The dashboards have a variety of customisable filters and datasets. You can easily extract specific reports at the click of a button or explore the pre-configured dashboards containing key measures.
The standard package includes Organisation and Holiday dashboards and a nightly refresh of data from your HR system.
Getting started
To access Analytics click on the button in the left hand menu. This will open your Dashboard and you can click the Analytics button again to expand the menu.
View options
At the top of every dashboard, you’ll find the View options.
The View data by dropdown allows you to change how data is grouped: for example by Division, Department, or Location. The dashboard updates instantly to reflect your selection.
Filter options
Filter options let you refine the data shown, using categories pulled directly from your HR system: such as Gender, Grade Description, or Group.
-
Filters are applied across all visuals and remain active until removed manually
-
When filters are applied, they appear in the Filters Applied section
-
You can use multiple filters at once, but applying too many can limit the available data
-
To remove a filter, hover over it and click the erase icon
Applying a temporary filter
You can apply a quick, visual filter by clicking directly on a chart element (eg a division bar or segment).
-
The dashboard updates to show only data related to that selection
-
This filter is temporary: click anywhere else on the dashboard to clear it and return to the default view
Drill down to underlying data
You can dig deeper into the Employee Detail behind the stats by clicking on a chart or data point to activate the drill-through option. You can then view a list of people by choosing one of the options below:
-
Click on the Employee Detail button at the bottom of the charts
- Hover over the selected area for the Drill through option to appear
- Right click on the selected area
Employee Detail will then be shown in a list
Use the button to return to the previous view
Exporting data
Data can be exported from several dashboards:
-
Hover over a chart or table to reveal the more options (ellipsis) menu
-
From there, choose Export Data and select your preferred format (CSV or Excel). This is useful for offline analysis or sharing insights with stakeholders.
Dashboards views
Each dashboard shares a common structure:
-
View by and Filters at the top
-
Key metrics shown in the form of charts, visuals, and KPIs
-
Interactive features for filtering and drill-through
Here’s a brief summary of what each dashboard covers:
Summary
Shows high-level organisational metrics like Headcount, Total Salary, and more. Good for a snapshot of your workforce at a point in time.
Analysis
Focuses on a single KPI at a time (eg Total Salary) with breakdowns, comparisons, and trends over time. Ideal for deep dives into specific metrics.
Year-on-Year
Compares metrics (like Headcount or Salary) across two years to highlight change and trends, using both percentage and absolute differences.
Extract Dashboard
A flexible, tabular view for building and exporting custom data tables. Tailor your dataset by rows, KPIs, and filters.
Explorer Dashboard
Enables advanced, pivot-style data exploration with row and column groupings. Perfect for multi-level views of key HR metrics.
Further Dashboards
Additional dashboards are available subject to your subscription tier, which follow the same structure:
