Query
- "Access denied when running a report"
- "Can't access my generated reports"
- "I can't run this report"
- "Report access denied error"
- "Report email error"
Answer
There are two separate permissions that control report access in HR.
2. Access to the specific report
How to fix it
1. Check access to the My Generated Reports page
- Go to System Configuration > Role Management
- Select the relevant user role > Pages
- Check My generated reports is set to Write Access
- If not, enable it, click Review Changes, then Update to confirm
- Sign out and back in before trying again
| Note: this controls whether the user can see the My Generated Reports page at all, where completed reports are downloaded from, including those delivered via an emailed download link. Even if a user has access to individual reports (see next section) they won't be able to view them without access to the overall page. |
2. Check access to the specific report
- Go to System Configuration > Role Management
- Select the relevant user role > Actions > Reports
- Find the report and check it's set to accessible for that role
- Click Review Changes, then Update to confirm
|
Note: reports are individually enabled per user role, so having access to My Generated Reports doesn't guarantee access to every report, each one needs to be made accessible separately. Even reports built in Report Designer need to be made accessible once enabled at the final stage of the wizard's report settings. |
