You've received an error when trying to insert a new starter using the Add new employee (workflow)

Picklists have a character limit of 20 characters and if you are selecting an option in a picklist (used on some of the dropdown fields) that exceeds this, then it will trigger the error seen in the screenshot above.
How to fix it
- Click Back in the workflow to review all the picklist options selected to identify which one has exceeded 20 characters
- The picklist dropdown fields are likely to be in the Employee (Personal Details) section - step 1 of the workflow, but if you have set up Further Information fields in Job and Pay then it could apply there too
- Once identified, go to Data Management > Configure Picklists
- Search for the picklist that exceeds the 20 character limit. Amend the option that has exceeded this limit and then click Update to save
- As long as you didn't reset the Add new employee workflow you can return there to continue adding your new starter and successfully complete the process
