Query
“Duplicate people in report”
“Same employee appears multiple times in report”
“Report Designer duplicate rows”
“Duplicate job title in report”
“Headcount report showing duplicates”
Answer
A person appears more than once when you select Job and Pay fields from the Job and Pay table. That table holds every Job and Pay record a person has had, including past and future changes, so the report shows a row for each one.
How to fix it
Personal Details master table
If you want current Job and Pay information only, select the Job and Pay fields that are linked from Personal Details, not from the Job and Pay table. These show the person’s current data, so each person appears once.
Job and Pay master table with filter
If you need Job and Pay information for a date that isn’t today (eg end of the month or for a date range), build the report with Job and Pay as the master table.
Then apply a Job and Pay filter form at the Filters stage of the wizard, which allows you to narrow down the effective date(s) of the report. There are three job and pay filters that will appear when using the Job and Pay master table:
1. Job and Pay Point in Time
This lists each employee's job and pay record on the date you choose
2. Job and Pay Effective
This gives you more options if you wish to set a date range rather than specific point in time
3. Job and Pay
This gives you further options for date range, Pay Basis and Contract filters
