Query
“Manager can only see direct reports”
“Direct Reports Only not working”
“Manager can see all colleagues”
“Manager can’t see multiple teams”
“Team Dashboard not showing for a manager”
Answer
Which users a manager sees depends on their access level and on each user’s organisation structure and line manager. Dashboard widgets only show the users that access lets them see. Separately, a widget’s or page’s own settings control whether a manager sees the dashboard at all.
How to fix it
If a manager sees too few or too many people:
- Check the user records. Go to Admin > Manage Users > Manage Users, find a team member and select Edit Profile. On the Employment tab, check Line Manager and the organisation structure fields. If your user data comes from Ciphr HR, correct it there
- Check the widget setting. Go to Team > Team Dashboard, select Edit, then select Configure on the widget and choose Settings. Turn Direct Reports Only on or off as needed, then select Save and Publish
- If the setting has no effect, or managers can see everyone, the manager’s access level is controlling it. Raise a ticket with the manager’s name, their access level and who they should see
If a manager can’t see the dashboard or a widget:
- Check the Assignment. On the widget, select Configure > Assignment and check the organisation structure values include the manager. If you’ve renamed departments recently, check the assignment still uses the current names
- Check the page security. For a custom dashboard page, go to Manage Portal Content, select the Security icon for the page and check it’s assigned to the manager’s access level. Then select Publish again
| Important: Changes to an access level affect every user who has that access level, not just one manager. |
