Update 21 January 2026: Resolution to Azure virtual desktop connection failures (desktop Payroll)
We’re pleased to inform you that Microsoft has now resolved this issue.
It does require an update to be installed and as this is an out-of-band update it might require your IT Teams to force this ahead of normal patch schedules.
Resolution: To address this issue, an out-of-band (OOB) update was released 17 January 2026, in the Microsoft Update Catalog. It can be found at KB5077744.

15 January 2026: Azure virtual desktop connection failures (desktop Payroll)
We’ve been alerted to a Microsoft Windows App issue which is impacting our customers that access Accord payroll using remote desktop. Please note this is not related to Azure or our proprietary systems, it’s an issue with a Windows update that will be installed onto your employees’ machines.
If you use the Windows App to login to Accord payroll and experience this connection issue, follow the instructions here to log in using our web interface.
The only way to avoid this connection failure is to ask your IT team to refrain from installing the affected Windows update until Microsoft have issued a revision to it without this issue.
