This guide outlines the various question types used in assessments.

Each Question Type is explained in detail - click the sections below to expand and learn more:
Attitude
An Attitude or ‘Likert’ template allows a user to select from a range of possible responses. This question type is typically used in psychometric testing or in surveys to gauge opinion. There is a weighted version of this template.
An example would be: “The trainer was very knowledgeable of the subject” with the possible answers of “1 – strongly agree ranging to 5 – strongly disagree.
This Question Type cannot be scored and does not have feedback.
Drag and Drop
This is Question Type allows a user to drag labelled text boxes to labelled target boxes. There is an option to upload media if required.
- Enter your Answers, which are the draggable items
- Enter your Labels, which are the target boxes
- Enter the correct sequence ie Answer 4 > Label 1, Answer 3 > Label 2, Answer 1 > Label 3 and Answer 2 > Label 4
Add the name for Drag and Drop Sequence
This Question Type allows the user to drag labelled boxes into the correct order or sequence. There is an option to upload media if required.
- Enter the Answers
- Enter the correct sequence ie Answer 4 > 1, Answer 3 > 2, Answer 1 > 3, Answer 2 > 4
Content
This template is a descriptive page which can be used to break up the assessment. It should contain tutorial or directional information only.
Multiple Choice
The user can pick from a number of possible responses – either a single selection for the correct answer or multiple selections for the correct answer.
A Multiple Choice question can have up to 5 possible answers. Media is allowed to be included to provide observation/scenario type questioning – there is also a weighted version of this template.
One Choice
Similar to the Multiple Choice above in all settings, but only allows a single answer selection. A weighted version is also available.
Open Answer
Allows the user to type an open text response to the question and scores based on closest matching text, or if the answer is left blank their response is not scored.
Rating Scale
This Rating Scale type question allows the user to rate a response between 2 parameters, ie Poor to Excellent, with the rating number set by the author. This template is typically used for feedback surveys.
- Add how many ratings you require by typing in a value into the Number of Rating Choices field
- Label each response by typing into each Statement field
- Select Include N/A rating if you wish a N/A option to appear as a rating option
Rating scale dropdown
This Rating Scale type question allows the user to rate a response between 2 parameters, ie Poor to Excellent, with the rating number set by the author. This template is typically used for feedback surveys. Rating scale dropdown uses a dropdown menu to make the selection.
- Add your statement/question into the Statement area
- Enter your dropdown options into the Comma separated list of options field, ie Poor, Average, Excellent
- You can create multiple Statements with the same dropdown options by clicking on Enter a new statement
Rating scale sliders
This Rating Scale type question allows the user to rate a response between 2 parameters, ie Poor to Excellent, with the rating number set by the author. This template is typically used for feedback surveys. Rating scale sliders uses a slider to make a selection.
- Add your statement/question into the Statement area
- Enter the amount you would like into the Number of Rating Choices field
- You can create multiple Statements with the same slider options by Entering a new statement
Scenario
Allows a user to select from a number of responses to a scenario, and display as silhouetted characters with speech bubbles
Sequence
Allows the user to enter the number for each statement to place them in an ordered sequence.
A Sequence question can have up to 5 possible answers.
- Add your statement/answer text
- Enter the number for each statement into the Sequence Number field to indicate the correct order
Text prompt
Allows 5 statements/questions along with text areas for answers.
Note: This Question Type is currently in development/under review and the present functionality is as follows:
- Enter the question/statement into the Prompt for Answer 1 area
- Enter the Answers you expect into the Answer 1 field
- You will need to do this for Answer 2 and also add question/statement for all 5 Prompt for Answer fields
True/False
The question has two possible options. Each option can be titled as required, eg Yes/No or True/False. Media can be added if required.
Yes No Branch
Allows the Yes/No response to branch to another question, allowing a set of questions to be skipped, perhaps where not relevant, which is useful for surveys where sections do not apply to the user. There is also a weighted version available.
- Add the text you wish to appear for each Option
- Then select the Question Page that you wish each answer to branch to from the Option goes to dropdown
Weighted
Weighting can be applied if more than one answer is correct and an answer is more correct than the other.
There are weighted versions of the following templates:
- Attitude
- Multiple Choice
- One Choice
- Yes No Branch
The Weighting needs to add up to 1.0 (100%).
This is an example of Multiple Choice Weighted question.
