Introduction
Once an employee has provided notice and their eligibility for Statutory Neonatal Care Absence and Pay has been confirmed, the absence must be recorded in the payroll system to enable processing of the statutory payment and enables recovery from HMRC.

How to process SNCP on the pay run
In the Absence tab on the employee record you can record the Statutory Neonatal Care absence and pay.
Within the Absence tab, click Create new. This will take you to a list of statutory absences to choose from.
In this case, select Neonatal care pay and the following screen will appear.
Complete the following fields then click Save
- Care start date - the start date of baby being in the neonatal care for 7 full consecutive days
- Average weekly earnings - currently not calculated in the system, please enter a manually calculated amount (see HMRC links for help with the calculation)
- Start date - First day of the employee's absence
- End date - Last day of the employee's absence. Please note the SNCP is only payable for full weeks.

Data entered for employee on a monthly pay frequency, with 260 salary method working Mon-Fri.
The employee has an annual salary,
This is how it shows in the pay run. For salaried employees the system automatically deducts Parental Leave to reduce the salary for the pay period.
