This guide will show you how to set up a Welcome Message, create Carousels, RSS Feeds and Quick Links.

Overview
A Welcome Message can be created which is then displayed on logging into Ciphr HR.
To set up Welcome Messages
- Go to the following area:
• Latest menu: Company > Configuration > News Configuration
• Pre 2025 menu: System > System Configuration > Welcome Message Configuration - Click Insert New Record
Summary Details
This Tab controls whether the Welcome Message is visible for users.
- Active From allows you to set a date when the message will be visible from, if it is enabled, so you can create your messages in advance and they will automatically become active from the date
- Enabled? activates the message so it will appear when users login. If you have more than one message enabled, a message will appear as below:
- Suppressible? gives you the option to allow users to suppress the message once they’ve read it, to prevent it popping up each time they login.
Note: The welcome message can be viewed on demand as follows:
• Latest menu: Company > News This is useful to view a suppressed message or to view any changes you have made. |
- Entities is visible if the optional Multi Entity functionality has been configured. You can select the entities which should see the message.
Main Content
This is the body of the message, it can contain hyperlinks to other websites, tables, images etc.
- Use the Main Content tab to create and format the message and add any graphics or links that are to be displayed. The tab shows a formatting toolbar with the following options:
To set up a Carousel
This is displayed above the message and is sometimes referred to as a slider and is a way of displaying multiple images in a single space which automatically change – this could be photos of the Senior Management Team, pictures of company offices etc.
- The Carousel is a set of revolving slides that will display as part of the Welcome Message. They can have an External Link associated with the images
- A series of “dots” will be displayed indicating the number of slides that make up the
full carousel
- The Global Slide Settings allows you to pick a range between 80 pixels and 300 pixels for the height of each slide image
- Use the plus icon to add slides to the carousel
- The Image Source is mandatory, so click Select files… to upload an image.
Tip: The image size height should match your Global Slide Settings Height in pixels, and the width can be up to 875 pixels. If you don’t have any photo editing software you can resize an image using Microsoft Paint. |
- An optional Image Caption can be added which will appear as text over the image.
- An optional Image Tooltip can also be added which will appear when you hover
over the image.
To set up an RSS Feed
This is displayed on the right of the message and is a link to information held on another website for example BBC news or Weather, Personnel Today etc – indeed any website that has the ability to share content in an RSS format. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or is sometimes known as Rich Site Summary and is an XML format used for sharing Web content.
- On the RSS Feeds tab specify the RSS feed site link
- Click Update. The feed will appear on the Welcome Message the next time it is
displayed
To set up Quick Links
These are displayed as icons underneath the message. These links could be to another page in Ciphr HR or to an external website. It is configured by using the Website’s URL
- On the Quick Links tab type in a Description, select an icon from the options presented, specify the Link and choose the icon Colour
- Specify the size of the icon, the Order and move the slider if there is an External Link
- Additional links can be created by clicking the plus icon
- Click Update and the Quick Links will display the next time the message is shown
- A Quick Link can be set up to a page within Ciphr HR
- Leave the External Link as unselected and in the Link field enter the system path and page information to link to
